For three decades Harlan Jones has protected his clients in business, environmental, employment, real estate, product liability, and construction litigation, including complex multi-party actions and class actions. Harlan has a unique ability to view litigation from a business point of view because of his eight years serving as General Counsel and then Vice President for Legal Affairs and Administrative Services for a highly successful insurance company. Harlan oversaw the company's legal affairs and also actively participated in the executive business management of that company. He was directly responsible for the company's 100-person in-house law firm and for the expense those legal services created for the company. Harlan therefore understands that legal matters, including litigation, are business concerns.
Harlan has handled hundreds of cases in state and federal courts, many involving multi-million dollar disputes, and has obtained successful resolution of many disputes in mediations and arbitrations. After a one month-long trial, he obtained for one of his business clients the largest jury verdict in Oregon history to that time. The trial judge, who had been on the bench for 20 years and later became Presiding Judge for Oregon's largest county, said on the record that it was the best-tried case he had ever seen.
Harlan has a personal AV (preeminent) rating from Martindale-Hubbell. His clients have included:
