A certified paralegal, Jana Bauman offers a diverse legal background with 35 years of experience in law. She is skilled in many areas of law including contracts, business/commercial litigation, landlord/tenant, collections, product liability, personal injury, OSHA, BOLI, employment, land use, construction litigation, municipal, environmental and real estate.

Jana brings extensive experience in both federal and state court to the firm. She assists the attorneys at Jordan Ramis in all aspects of litigation including interviewing witnesses and clients, research, drafting complaints, answers, motions, discovery documents, correspondence, summarizes depositions, and when appropriate, assists the attorneys at trial. She assists with settlement negotiations, drafts settlement agreements and releases, She is skilled in the analysis of facts and issues and is useful in narrowing down the issues that are important to each case. Her organizational skills enable her to control large volume document production, and efficiently manage the cases to which she is assigned.

Jana is one of a handful of paralegals who understands and has experience in the area of construction law. She is experienced in all aspects of construction law from reviewing and drafting contracts through litigation of complex defective construction cases. Her experience in working with design professionals, contractors, subcontractors and owners has taught her the ability to review each project from the perspective of each trade and to appreciate and be able to recognize the issues for settlement or trial.

Jana also has extensive background in various aspects of employment law and has worked on construction employment matters, i.e., from prevailing wage claims to injuries on the construction site. She is also experienced in wage and hour, sexual harassment, wrongful discharge and ADA cases. Having a sensibility about the issues confronting both the employer and the employee in these cases, she is able to discern the facts that are crucial in the case through talking to the employer, employee, and interviewing witnesses. Jana understands that these issues are often confidential and handles all interviews and questions discreetly and with care.

Jana is a graduate of Marylhurst University and has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Leadership. Jana is the past President of Pacific Northwest Paralegal Association (PNPA) and currently serves on the Paralegal Advisory Board at Pioneer Pacific College. She is also an active member of Pacific Northwest Paralegal Association, the National Association of Legal Assistants, and an Associate member of the Multnomah Bar Association. She has presented at several continuing legal education seminars for lawyers and legal assistants in Oregon, speaking on drafting pleadings in federal and state court, handling personal injury claims, essential litigation skills for paralegals, managing and preparation of discovery in state and federal court, motion practice, utilization of Paralegals in the Law Firm, and is involved in the certification program for paralegals/legal assistants. Jana is also on the Board of Directors for the Portland Institute of Contemporary Arts.
