Here you can find the March scorecard from the Department of Treasury and the Department of Housing and Urban Development regarding their efforts to calm the housing crisis. According to the data, housing prices stabilized and will begin increasing over the next few years.
On the new construction side, housing starts fell to an annualized rate of 654,000 units a year. On the positive side, new permits increased dramatically, showing an annualized rate of 747,000 units this year. While this is still well below the number of units needed to keep up with population growth and begin spurring job growth, it is more positive than the past several years.
